About Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten

Assistant Waldorf Kindergarten Teacher

Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten (BWK) is looking for a special person to join us as an Assistant Teacher in one of our morning Kindergarten classes. This position begins August 26, with some training this spring.

The following is a requirement for this position:
• Lifeways or Waldorf Early Childhood training or experience (please do not apply without this qualification)

The following is a plus for this position:
• Colorado Early Childhood Teacher qualified (formerly called GLQ or Group Leader Qualified). See the Colorado Early Childhood Teacher Eligibility Chart

Hours:
This position is approximately 30 hours a week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 1pm, plus occasional afternoon meetings, often on Wednesday to 2:30pm.

Pay:
Competitive, based on experience and qualifications.

Job description:
You will assist the lead teacher in guiding a group of 16 - 18 children, ages 3 to 6 years old, through their Waldorf Kindergarten morning. You will assist with snack preparations, practical and artistic classroom activities and play time, both indoors and out. You will assist in presenting seasonal songs, stories and puppetry, and maintaining your classroom’s nature table. You will interact with parents, and help to maintain healthy parent relations. You will work with your fellow teachers at the school, including professional planning and preparing for school events.

About BWK

Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten is an early childhood center serving families and children, ages 12 months to 6 years. We have a Lifeways Toddler class with children ages 12 to 36 months. We have a Waldorf Kindergarten class with children ages 2½ to 4½ years, and two Waldorf Kindergarten classes with children ages 3 to 6 years. 

Located on a beautiful 2 acre farm school in north Boulder, Colorado, the environment at BWK is carefully prepared to create an atmosphere of inspiration for learning.  Our expansive play yard is filled with shade and fruit trees, large organic / biodynamic gardens, lots of natural wood climbing structures, old fashioned toys and an authentic tipi.  Children participate in creative play, help to grow and harvest vegetables, fruit and flowers, and assist in caring for our dairy goats and chickens.  Our school is in a lovely and spacious, light-filled adobe-style building.
